The Citizens Network for Community Development Zambia (CNCD-Zambia) was established to address the growing need for youth and community participation in shaping Zambia’s social, economic, and environmental future. The organization is a platform where citizens, particularly young people and women, can unite to demand accountability, promote sustainable solutions, and contribute meaningfully to national and global development agendas. CNCD-Zambia was registered by the Registrar for NGOs under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS).

Our mission is to push for development of the community be solving the challenges affecting the society today.

We aim to shift the mindset of young people towards pressuring and demanding for positive social change and being involved in solution provision.

Challenge stereotypes and transform societal expectations of young people’s ability to lead and create change

Promote Climate Action

Encourage youth-led innovative solutions for climate mitigation and adaptation, integrating these into education and community programs. 

Community Mobilization

Inspire women and young people to actively participate in campaigns, demonstrations, and awareness initiatives.

Solidarity Building

Support environmental defenders, workers, and marginalized voices often overlooked in governance and development processes. 

Our Focus Areas

CNCD-Zambia’s work is centered on four core areas: Youth Empowerment & Leadership, Climate Justice & Sustainability, Women’s Empowerment, and Civic Education & Rights Awareness. Through these pillars, we provide training, mentorship, and a platform for citizens to advocate for social change and climate resilience.

Youth Empowerment & Leadership

Training, mentorship, and advocacy skills development.

Youth-led adaptation and mitigation projects, climate education, and renewable energy promotion.

Women’s Empowerment

Creating safe spaces for participation, leadership training, and promotion of gender equality.

Community sensitization campaigns, promotion of accountability, and advocacy for social justice.
